More than 100 fibreglass dragons have been laid in a trail in and around Newport to help celebrate the 2010 Ryder Cup. South East Wales. BBC Radio Wales. To celebrate Newport hosting the 2010 Ryder Cup more than 100 fibreglass SuperDragons will create a trail in and around the city until 17 October. Modelled on the worldwide CowParade public art exhibitions, local artists were asked to submit designs with the winners being turned into community artwork by the artists themselves. So far the initiative has taken place in 2010 and 2012 with approximately 60 large, decorated Newport SuperDragons 2010. SuperDragons are a public art exhibition which is part of the Newport Festival 2010. 60 large fibreglass sculptures have been created by Wild in Art Link and decorated by local artists and community groups. They are being displayed at various locations around Newport for 10 weeks from July 18th 2010 before being auctioned for charity.
