Kinbombi QLD The Kilkivan Kingaroy Rail Trail (KKRT) follows the corridor of a branch railway developed in stages between 1902 and 1904. The line was closed a little more than a century later in 2011, with the rail trail opening in 2017. The Kilkivan Kingaroy Rail Trail can be divided into two. The section between Kilkivan and Murgon is managed by the Boondooma Dam. Constructed in 1983 to provide a water supply for Tarong Power Station, Boondooma Dam is located on the Boyne River on the boundary of Boondooma and Proston in the northeast of the South Burnett and is also fed by the Stuart River. Boondooma Dam is stocked with Australian bass, golden perch, silver perch and Saratoga. Tucked away in the heart of Gympie's western cattle country lies Kinbombi Falls, 10 minutes outside the quaint township of Goomeri.
