Paul Strisik (1918-1998) Plein air landscape artist, Paul Strisik, was born in New York but lived and painted most of his life in Rockport, Massachusetts and Santa Fe. He received his formal art training at the Art Students League in New York, studying there with Frank Vincent Dumond. This process allowed him to experiment with different atmospheres and light effects, characteristics he is now known for. In 1951, Strisik moved to the North Shore art colony of Rockport, Massachusetts, where he established a studio, and soon after opened the Strisik Gallery on Main Street, next to the Rockport Art Association. 1952-54 First marriage, son Peter was born. The Paul Strisik Gallery has now closed, after nearly 60 years, leaving a hole in the commercial heart of downtown Rockport.
