Detroit Swindle is an electronic house music duo started in 2011 by Lars Dales & Maarten Smeets. In just two years, Detroit Swindle have racked up releases on labels including Tsuba, Huxley's Saints & Sonnets, Freerange and Heist. It all started after Lars - who was programming a few nightclubs in Amsterdam - had to fire Maarten for playing too much underground music. They started talking and found out they had a mutual love for Motown, hip-hop and early house music. The music of Detroit Swindle is largely house, but takes in a wide range of influences.
