Back in 2020, while trapped in a car during a marathon road trip from Florida to Vermont — Spartan had just held its first post-COVID event, in Jacksonville — Spartan founder and CEO Joe De Sena had an epiphany. Alongside his wife, Courtney, and their four children, he was riding the familiar high of a successful event, and a weekend filled with fitness and racing. The brainchild of ultrarunners Joe Desena and Andy Weinberg, Death Racers do know the event takes place at Pittsfield's Amee Farm on June 25. And that Desena and Weinberg, who named their website www.youmaydie.com, and who pride themselves on a lowly 20 percent finishing rate, want their event to be the world's toughest race. Started in 2004 and held each summer on DeSena's farm in Pittsfield, Vermont, the Death Race took participants through mountainous terrain and was punctuated by challenges: baling hay for hours Directions: 1.Remove cores from tomato quarters and toss away.
