Mid canadaレーダーライン

The Mid-Canada Line, also known as the McGill Fence, was a line of radar stations across the "middle" of Canada to provide early warning of a Soviet bomber attack on North America. It was built to supplement the less-advanced Pinetree Line, which was located further south. The majority of Mid-Canada Line stations were used only briefly from the late 1950s to the mid-1960s, as the attack threat Sandefjord used to be the "whaling capital" of Norway and is the only place in Europe to have a museum dedicated to whaling. It was first considered in the very early 1950s but not seriously until late 1953. The MCL followed the Pinetree Line, construction beginning early in 1955. It was created to deal with quicker planes and to give more warning Between the DEW Line and the Pinetree Line was the Mid-Canada Line, consisting of 8 Sector Control Stations and approximately 90 unmanned Doppler radar sites. The line operated for a very brief time from 1956 until 1965, when improvements in technology made the line unnecessary.
